TimeTrax Version 1.0b1

Hello,

congratulations using this new time planner from
Config e.G., Germany.

This readme guides you through the various screens
the time planner offers and shows the possible
operations.

The fix parts of the screen layout are:

- the month display (Upper left corner)

Here you can move through the months either by
using the arrow keys or by tapping on the month
name opening a popup with 14 surrounding months.
The current month is enclosed by dashed lines,
the year break is diplayed as a bold line.

- The month selector (Upper right corner)

This is the wellknown month display from the
builtin time planner. Hitting one day will go to
this specific day. The numbers (#) besides this
selector show the ISO week numbers. It is only
shown in Day and Week view.

- Range - Folder selector

This folder allows you to quickly switch between
the various displays of the time planner. The screens are:

  o Day view
o Week text view (Pressing week once)
o Week bar view (Pressing week again)
  o Month view
o Year view (not yet implemented ...)

- Scroll Arrows for meetings

- Todo - Categories

This is only displayed on the day-view screen. This time
planner allows the todos to be categorized into 3 different
categories. This folder selects a category for display.
The texts of these folder tabs can be set in Prefs.

- Scroll Arrows for Todos

- The button bar on the bottom has several buttons/displays:

o i-Button to get Prefs and About
o Today-Button to select current day for the current display
o New-Button to insert new Items
o Time display. Tap it to get battery status
  o Close Box

On the MP120/130 the text part of the Dates-Button starts
TimeTrax.

Dates-Icon -> Start Internal Dates Application

	   Dates      -> Start TimeTrax

I will now guide you through the various screens.
The first screen after installing the time planner
is the Day-View Screen:

Day-View screen:   ===============================================

This screen is split into 3 parts:

o Event part (besides the month selector)
o Meeting Area (with the time on the left hand side)
o The todo area (lower part of the screen)

Events are displayed in the event part. They can be given
a special icon categorizing this event. Possible icons are:

  o Event
  o Birthday
  o Holiday
  o MultiDayEvent

The lines can be tapped for opening the meeting slip on this
event. The entry can be scrubbed for erasing this occurrence.

--------
The meetings are displayed as small bars on the left side of
the meeting area. This Bar shows the start time and the length
of the meeting. Dark Bars show normal meetings, brighter bars
show repeating meetings. The text is diplayed besides the
bar. If an alarm is scheduled for this meeting, a small alarm bell
is displayed. If two meetings collide, the bars are split to
show the collision. If more than two meetings collide at a
specific time point, this collision cannot be resolved graphically.

Tapping on the Text or the Bar opens the Meeting slip for this
meeting. The entry can be scrubbed for erasing this occurrence.

Dragging the bar moves the meeting to a different starting time.
When mrking the bar (tap bar and keep pressed without moving), the
duration of the meeting can be changed.

New meetings:
When starting to draw a line on the left most region of the meeting
area (time area), a black bar is displayed. When moving the pen the
bar follows the pen. This can be used to insert new meetings.

-------
The todo area can display various todos depending on the screen
of the newton. A MP2000 using 10pt can display up to 15 Todos.
A MP120/130 can display up to 9 todos. The folder to the right
of the todo display displays the current todo category.

A todo-Item has several parts:

o Done Icon: Shows if this todo is already done. Tapping this
Icon toggles the state of the item.

o Priority Icon: Shows the priority (1-4). Tapping this icon opens
    the priority selector.

o Assist Icon: Puts Todo-Text to the Intelligent Assistant. So you
can formulate a todo-task as an assist-command (like "Call Thomas").

  o Todo-Text

Tapping the Todo-text opens the todo-slip. Scrubbing the text
    deletes the todo-item.

Week text view:   =======================================

Tapping the week folder tab once opens the week text display. This
display shows you a complete summary of the week. Every day display
consists of:

  o Header showing date
  o Events
  o Meetings
  o Todos

Tapping on the header warps to this day (Day-View).
Tapping one of the data lines displayes more info on the bottom
of the screen. Double tapping a data line opens an edit slip.
Scrubbing a data line deletes the item.

Week Bar View: ===========================================

When tapping the week folder tab twice, the bar view is displayed.
The display split into two areas:

  o Meeting area (large part)
  o data part

The data part contains the info about the date, event and todo info.
The event info is displayed as icons (see day view) and under the
first diamond of the box. If the first diamond is black, an event
is scheduled on this day. If a todo is scheduled, the right diamond
is black. Tapping on the diamonds opens a list of the items of that day.
Tapping on an unfilled diamond, only a list of items which can be inserted
is displayed.
Tapping on the date warps to the day-view of this specific day.

The meeting area only displays bars for the meetings of the corresponding
day. Bright bars show repeat meetings, dark bars show normal meetings.
The display can be scrolled by the arrow keys on the right.

When tapping on a bar, detailed information is displayed on the
bottom of the screen. Double tapping a bar opens a meeting slip.
Scrubbing a bar deletes this meeting.

Dragging the bar moves the meeting to a different starting time.
When mrking the bar (tap bar and keep pressed without moving), the
duration of the meeting can be changed.

New Meetings: ----------
New meetings can be inserted just by drawing with the pen outside all bars.

Month view:    ===============================================

The month view is an event based view. It only shows events scheduled
in this month. Each event except birthdays is displayed as a bar.
The pattern in the bar can be configured in the Meeting edit slip.
If "None" is selected as Pattern, no bar is painted for this event.
Multi Day Events have a throughgoing bar.
Birthdays are displayed at the bottom of each day. The text Bday: or
Geburtstag.: is removed, so that the name remains. In order to
remove the header text, TimeTrax looks for a colon. All text before
the first colon is truncated (incl. the colon itself and following
whitespaces).

Edit features:
Tapping on a bar or on a birthday displays additional info at the
bottom of the screen. Doubletapping these items opens the meeting
slip with this event. Scrubbing will be implemented in 0,95beta.
Taping outside all bars selects this day to be the current day. This
is relevant for inserting new events, which are always inserted to
the current date by default. Doubletapping the background warps to
the day view for this specific day.

Year View:   ================================================

Not yet implemented!!

Much fun using the program.

Suggestions and bugs:  ======================================

As this is just a beta version, there might be some bugs in it.
Please make a full backup befor installing the time planner.
Until now, no data was ever destroyed, but .....

If there are some things not working how you expect them to be,
write an email to:

     reitzner@cs.fau.de

Please make suggestions how this product can be improved.
If it is possible, I will integrate any suggestions into
the further design of this application.

ciao,

Stephan
